As you know, NCR Corp is leaving Dayton for Duluth, GA and taking only a small percentage of existing employees along. After 33 and a half years at NCR, I will be leaving employment this New Year's Eve. It has been a good place to work for the most part and I have been very fortunate in my longevity there, being able to retire on my departure. Beginning as an auditor and moving through several areas in accounting, IT, and back to accounting and transactions taxes, I managed to hang on through thick and thin and actually enjoyed what I got to do most times. There was a lot of "thin" as the company downsized from 70K+ employees to around 20K+ currently. The company somehow managed to move ahead after each downsizing on to the next one, with the loyal remaining corporate staff busily shuffling papers and looking at PC screens while holding the seemingly ever-present cup of coffee in their right hands. I thought you'd like to see the building where I was located shortly after beginning employment in 1976, and coincidentally is the same location in the Dayton campus where I'm ending employment as well.
